Drs.
Lockey, Fox, Ledford and Glaum are
board certified physicians in Internal Medicine and
Allergy and Immunology and professors at the University
of South Florida College of Medicine. The doctors and
staff will provide you and your family members with
the most current and scientific medical care, diagnostic
testing, and treatment. This practice is also associated
with the University of South Florida College of Medicine,
Clinical Research Unit, which studies patients with
asthma and other allergic problems as well as immunologic
problems.

The four physicians in the practice are recognized nationally
and internationally for their research and teaching
service and their clinical expertise for treating allergic

The physician who sees you will perform a history and physical examination, after which necessary diagnostic and
laboratory procedures will be discussed in detail. Please feel free to ask questions about any tests or procedures
ordered. Some of the procedures include, but are not limited to:

skin tests, to determine your allergies to inhalants, foods, certain
antibiotics, |

local anesthetics, and insect venoms. |

rhinoscopy, to visualize the upper airway breathing passages by placing
a |

fiberoptic scope in the nasal/sinus passages. |

nasal smears, to determine the presence of allergic or infectious
cells. |
 |
patch testing, to agents that cause a poison ivy type rash. |
 |
pulmonary (lung) function studies, to determine the efficiency of
air flow in the |

lungs. |
 |
tympanograms, to determine mobility of the eardrums. |
 |
hearing tests, to determine the ability to hear. |
 |
patient education, to explain environmental control measures, medications, |
| |
nature of the disease triggers, and use of inhalers. |
 |
oral challenges, to determine food or medication allergy. |
 |
allergy injections, to decrease sensitivity to allergens. |
Residents, who are physicians, licensed to practice in
Florida and who are furthering their education, rotate
through this clinic. They are supervised by Drs. Lockey,
Fox, Ledford and Glaum. Fellows, who are training to become
allergists/ immunologists, are already either board qualified
or board certified in internal medicine or pediatrics.
These physicians will be participating in your care. Medical
students also rotate on this service. They may perform
various tests on behalf of Drs. Lockey, Fox, Ledford and
Glaum.
